Heritage Recognizes Resident

For William “Bill” Disbro, local artist and resident at The Woodlands, a Heritage independent senior living community, a lifetime in the art field has brought him many memories and experiences he will never forget. Recently, he added another unforgettable experience as a resident and valued Heritage community member.

Disbro and his wife, Andrea, both accomplished artists, began calling The Woodlands home in 2013 as they entered retirement, and immediately became a vital part of their community. As a member of The Woodlands Resident Advisory Council, Bill became an active advocate for his fellow residents. Helping aid collaboration between Heritage staff, management, and residents, Disbro has worked to help provide many improvements at The Woodlands, including activities, gatherings, and most recently, the Beautification Project.

The Woodlands Administrator, Rebecca LeBaron, shared, “We have been honored to participate in The Woodlands Beautification Project, made possible with a grant in conjunction with the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy. When residents of The Woodlands, including Bill, learned of the Beautification Project, they immediately jumped on board to participate, and then decided to add their own lasting legacy. Resident driven and funded, they sponsored the creation of a new walking path and the purchase of three benches for generations to enjoy their new scenery.”

As a part of the project, residents at The Woodlands wanted to honor Disbro for all of his years of service, stating, “We wanted to dedicate one of our new benches to BIll in recognition of everything he has done. He has graciously led our group by serving as the Resident Advisory Council Representative, and has been very involved in several areas throughout our years together. He has excelled at ensuring the Woodlands community, and Heritage, is at the center of everything we do.”

LeBaron went on to share, “We are so blessed to have Bill as a part of our community. His soft-spoken leadership and knowledge as a member of the Resident Advisory Council have helped so many of our residents to enjoy life each day at The Woodlands. He is an absolute treasure, and it was wonderful to recognize him with this special memory.”
