Closing a nursing home is a lot more involved than simply padlocking the door. As residents, families, employees and elected officials continue to fight to keep the nursing home open at Weinberg Campus, the clock is ticking.
Officials with the Rosa Coplon Living Center notified residents last week that the Getzville nursing home will close by Nov. 30, or when the last resident is discharged and transferred elsewhere
“The state has created this disparity,” said Lisa Haglund, CEO at Heritage Ministries…“What other business would continue to operate if they lost $130 per day to care for each resident on Medicaid? In Weinberg’s case, on 100 residents, if 85% are on Medicaid, that means they lost $11,050 per day.”
